About
SamMai
Samantha Mai Currier is a 22 year old from New England and a recent graduate of Syracuse University, earning her B.S. in Graphic Design from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and a minor in Fine Arts. During her time at Newhouse, she achieved Deans List, a Magna Cum Laude GPA, and earned multiple awards.
Samantha has always had a passion for the traditional arts, working in countless mediums including painting, drawing, photography, embroidery, crochet, and more. In addition to design courses, Samantha was also able to take fine arts courses to further hone her artistic skill, and learned new ways to combine her art with design.
During college, she fell in love with Graphic Design as it allowed her to combine her illustrative side with practicality, and she has since been fascinated to learn how many aspects of mass media and communications today have roots in fine art traditions.
Growing up, Samantha traveled to many national parks and always found inspiration in the beautiful world around her. Now, she takes every opportunity she has to incorporate her love for nature and passion for wildlife conservation into her work.
Over the years, Samantha has combined all of this to develop a coherent style that is not only true to her unique skills and passions, but interesting to look at.
Despite her gravitation towards illustration, she is experienced in all facets of design, from typography, print, and promotional design, to UIUX design, video editing, and even motion graphics and immersive/augmented reality design. She is eager to combine many of these skillsets in her future work, to communicate in the most effective and versatile ways possible.
Most of all, however, Samantha lives by the words of her uncle, Jeff Currier, and is determined to prove to the world that you can be successful as a “smart artist.”
